I love sharing the work of artists who use materials in innovative,
contemplative, and resourceful ways. Yoshimi blesses us with all of that and more.
Her process is as inspiring as the finished pieces.

Usually newspapers remain in our hands for a day or so
before they are recycled or thrown away.

Yoshimi begins each piece with a newspaper, and builds it up with each daily issue. She uses the basic knitting stitches "knit" and "pearl" for construction.

The Million Dollar dress.

We certainly all spend lots of money to knit, but how many of you have
tried knitting with money? This gorgeous piece is from the Paper Dress Challenge
of the "Pulp Function - Paper Art at Fuller Craft Museum" exhibit.
I've tried to find the artist of this remarkable piece, but the individual
artists are not listed in any of the reviews.

Ok, my last post on knitted wire. This knitted wire bicycle is from the
Unravel event in Camden, England. There isn't even a listing for the artist
of this brilliant piece. The artist is certainly a romantic, for in addition to
knitting the entire bicycle, they've included a violin, wine bottle and glasses
in the pannier basket, and dainty bird on the saddle.
